Morning & Afternoon

A tour through Amsterdam by canal boat, followed by a rotating program for which you can sign up upon arrival:

  • Visit to the Scheepvaartmuseum, our National Maritime Museum.
    The chief librarian invites us to a special exhibition of highlights. In small groups, we tour the museum, see the atlases and globes of the Dutch Golden Age, and hear tales of exploration and discovery. Board a lifesize East Indiaman, try the hammocks, and fire a cannon!
  • Visit to the Six Collection. A charming and exquisite museum situated in a private residence belonging to the Dutch aristocratic Six family starting with mayor Jan Six I who was portrayed by Rembrandt.
  • Ets Haim, the oldest active Jewish library in the world. & Portuguese Synagoge, in the 17th century, this was the largest synagogue in the world. (Limited space).
  • The Artis Library is part of the Allard Pierson. The core of the collection is formed by the former book holdings of the Amsterdam society Natura Artis Magistra (Nature is the teacher of art), better known as Artis, founded in 1838.
  • Museum Willet Holthuysen, The museum provides a glimpse into life in a chic mansion on the Amsterdam canal belt in the 18th and 19th centuries.
